How do I find the out-the-door price?
Type the car's price in Car Cost. The page adds the destination fee, the dealer processing fee, any add-ons, sales & use tax, title and registration, and shows the total under Out the door.
What is "Out the door minus Car Sale"?
Car Sale is the amount you are getting for the car you are selling (it starts at $23,000; change it any time). The last line is the out-the-door price minus that amount, which is what is left to pay or finance.
Do car loans have origination fees?
Usually not. Banks, credit unions and manufacturer lenders normally charge none. Some subprime and buy-here-pay-here lenders do, so there is a field for it, set to $0.
Where do the default numbers come from?
They are typical Virginia values: 4.15% sales & use tax (minimum $75), a $15 title fee, and a registration estimate. Destination and processing fees vary by dealer, so use the numbers on the buyer's order. Local taxes, trade-in credits, rebates and loan interest are not included.
